Book Publishers produce literature for the public's consumption. This involves acquiring new material, editing the work, printing and distributing the final product. Traditionally, the term refers to the distribution of printed works such as books and newspapers. With the advent of digital information systems and the Internet, the scope of publishing has expanded to include electronic resources, such as the electronic versions of books, journals, magazines, as well as websites and so on.
The publishing process starts with the submission or acquisition of a work. Once the work has been reviewed and accepted, editors negotiate the ownership of intellectual property rights and agree on royalty rates.
